FORMER AUSTRALIAN OPEN FINALIST JENNIFER BRADY HEADLINES SINGLES MAIN DRAW WILD CARDS
SAN DIEGO – (January 23, 2026) – Former Australian Open finalist Jennifer Brady has been awarded a singles main draw wild card to the upcoming Better Buzz Coffee San Diego Open. The men’s and women’s professional tennis tournament will be played Monday, January 26 through Sunday, February 1, 2026 at Barnes Tennis Center 4490 W. Point Loma Blvd., San Diego, CA, 92107.
The 30-year-old Brady, a native of Harrisburg, Pa., reached the singles final of the 2021 Australian Open where she fell to former World No. 1 Naomi Osaka 6-4, 6-3. Brady achieved a career-high No. 13 in the WTA singles rankings in February 2021. She was also a singles semifinalist at the 2020 US Open.
Brady was an All-American at UCLA where she played collegiate tennis from 2013-2015. She helped the Bruins win the NCAA Division I title in 2014. For additional information on Brady, click here.
San Diego's Katherine Hui and Alexis Nguyen of El Dorado Hills, Calif., were also awarded singles main draw wild cards to the International Tennis Federation Women’s World Tour 100 Tournament.
The 20-year-old Hui, a graduate of Santa Fe Christian High School in Solana Beach, Calif., played two years of collegiate tennis at Stanford University before turning professional. She was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year for the 2023-2024 season. Hui captured the girls’ singles title at the 2023 US Open Junior Championships. She was also a singles finalist at the 2023 USTA Billie Jean King Girls’ 18s National Championships at Barnes Tennis Center.
The 18-year-old Nguyen reached the singles semifinals of the 2025 USTA Billie Jean King Girls’ 18s National Championships and won the USTA bronze ball for her third-place finish. Nguyen is currently ranked No. 234 in the ITF World Tennis Tour Rankings after reaching a career-high No. 107 in May 2025.
Tournament officials also granted singles main draw wild cards for the ATP Challenger 100 tournament to Colton Smith of Tenino, Wash., and San Diego native Keegan Smith.
The 22-year-old Colton Smith played four seasons of collegiate tennis at University of Arizona. An All-American, Smith was named 2025 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division I Men's National Senior Player of the Year. He is currently ranked No. 148 in the ATP singles rankings after reaching a career-high No. 133 in August 2025.
The 27-year-old Keegan Smith was a three-time CIF-San Diego Section champion at Point Loma High School. He played four seasons of collegiate tennis at UCLA where he was a three-time All American and an NCAA doubles champion in 2019. He is currently ranked No. 363 in the ATP singles rankings after reaching a career-high No. 339 in September 2022.

Fans are going to have the opportunity to watch some up-and-coming stars of the future,” said Co-Tournament Director Ryan Redondo. “This year’s Better Buzz Coffee San Diego Open is going to be a spectacular event and I invite sports fans to come and enjoy the tournament.”
Matches will begin at 10 a.m., Monday, January 26 through Thursday, January 29, and at Noon Friday, January 30 through Sunday, February 1. Gates at Barnes Tennis Center will open one hour before the first match each day.

Qualifying matches will highlight Opening Day of the tournament on Monday, January 26. There will be free admission on that day for all fans in attendance. All Youth 17 & under will receive free General Admission Grounds Access from Tuesday, January 27 through Saturday, January 31 with a ticketed adult.
The men’s ATP Challenger will feature a 32-player men’s singles draw and a 16-team men’s doubles draw, along with a 24-player men’s qualifying singles draw. Singles and doubles champions will receive 100 ATP ranking points.
The ITF women’s 100 tournament will feature a 32-player women’s singles draw and a 16-team women’s doubles draw, along with a 24-player women’s qualifying singles draw. Singles and doubles champions will receive 100 WTA Ranking points.
